The technical basis for color sand being compatible with "universal design."

Introducing technical information about permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

This document explains the technical basis for the "permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement (color sand)" being compliant with "universal design." The target value for slip resistance is set at BPN 40 or higher for wet surfaces, and the color sand pavement exceeds 62, thus meeting the target value. Additionally, since it is a site-cast pavement, it does not pose obstacles for pedestrians and wheelchair users, allowing for smooth curved construction, making it suitable for wheelchair users and visually impaired individuals. Furthermore, it excels in shock absorption, permeability, and water retention. The main factors contributing to overall "walkability" are elasticity, foot feel, and slip resistance. It is necessary to evaluate overall ease of walking and running when selecting walking surfaces. **Features** - Exceeds the target value for slip resistance - Allows for smooth curved construction - Excellent shock absorption and soft walking sensation - Maintains permeability without creating puddles that hinder walking - Highly superior in water retention capacity and duration due to its porous structure *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.*

The reason why colored sand maintains its paving function even after more than 15 years.

Introducing technical information about permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

We will explain the reasons why the "permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement (color sand)" has maintained its paving functionality even after more than 15 years since installation. Color sand meets all five "pavement requirements" expected for pedestrian areas and maintains high performance among pedestrian pavements. The characteristic of the blast furnace water-quenched slag used as aggregate, "latent hydraulicity," not only enhances strength but also provides excellent permeability and water retention due to its porous structure. Furthermore, in response to the repeated action of freezing and thawing during winter, it prevents the deterioration of the pavement surface by relieving the pressure caused by the volume expansion of moisture during freezing. Additional explanations, such as "representative examples of sites that have maintained paving functionality for over 15 years," can be found through external links. 【Technical Information Introduction】 ■ 20 years since the development of color sand ■ High performance maintained as pedestrian pavement ■ Technical reasons for maintaining paving functionality after more than 15 years / representative examples of sites *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.

Heat-conducting moisture-retaining slag pavement material "Heat Through Sand"

Releases heat and lowers surface temperature! It is an environmentally friendly pedestrian pavement material.

"Heat Through Sand" is a pedestrian pavement that combines high-permeability and water-retaining blast furnace crushed slag with high thermal conductivity aggregates (such as silica) in an optimal mix, adding cement, admixtures, and inorganic pigments, resulting in an environmentally friendly pavement that possesses both permeability and water retention functions as well as thermal diffusion capabilities. Since blast furnace crushed slag is a porous aggregate, it allows for "permeability across the entire surface," not just through the gaps between aggregates like conventional permeable pavements. This characteristic makes it less prone to clogging from debris, allowing the permeability and water retention functions to last for a long time. 【Features】 - Rainwater is stored in the fine porous voids of the blast furnace crushed slag from the surface. - Rainwater that permeates into the base is drawn up through capillary action, sustaining the evaporation effect over a long period. - Incorporation of high thermal conductivity aggregates such as silica. → In summer, heat stored in the surface layer is conducted and diffused to the base, reducing surface temperature. → In winter, geothermal heat from the base and subgrade is conducted and diffused to the surface, helping to suppress surface freezing. Permeable soil-based slag paving material "Eternal Sand"

Earth-based slag pavement that solves the weaknesses of earth-based pavement.

By using blast furnace crushed slag as the main aggregate, we have eliminated the peeling and flaking that were observed in the initial stages of conventional soil pavements. The "latent hydraulicity" of the slag (a characteristic that increases strength over time due to hydration reactions) also contributes to its excellent durability. It has a natural color and texture similar to soil, without the artificial impression often seen in asphalt or resin-based materials. It also excels in functions such as permeability, water retention, and slip resistance. 【Features】 ■ Main ingredient is blast furnace crushed slag mixed with sandy soil ■ Resistant to overflowing water on the surface, accommodating heavy rainfall of 30mm/h ■ Mitigates the heat island effect through evaporation from the surface ■ Provides moisture to trees and flowers through evaporation, promoting growth ■ Universal design that is easy for anyone to walk on ■ Extended lifespan compared to conventional paving materials ■ Reduces the extraction of natural materials by using artificial aggregates (recycled materials) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Color Sand (Shakujii River)

Bright and comfortable walkways even on rainy days! Introducing examples of the use of permeable and water-retaining paving material "Color Sand."

The walking path along the "Shakujii River" in Tokyo has adopted our permeable and water-retaining paving material, "Color Sand." Before the installation, when it rained, many people walked on the roadway due to poor footing, raising safety concerns. After the installation, even when it rains, puddles do not form, allowing for comfortable walking. As a result, the number of people walking on the roadway has decreased, which has pleased the local government officials. [Benefits of Adoption] - Direct heat is dispersed, reducing glare even on hot days. - The surface has fine bumps, making it less slippery even when it rains. - There is no water splashing, and it is easy to walk on even when the surface is wet. - It provides a soft walking sensation, reducing strain on the legs and back. - Colors that harmonize with the surrounding landscape can be chosen. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

The reason why colored sand is strong against "freeze-thaw" cycles.

Introducing technical information about permeable blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

This document explains the reasons why "permeable and water-retaining pavement materials (color sand)" are strong against "freeze-thaw" cycles. Color sand is a pedestrian pavement material that possesses permeable and water-retaining functions while being sufficiently resistant to the repeated effects of freeze-thaw cycles in winter, making it "strong against frost damage." Among our pavement composition, the "filter layer" made from high furnace slag pavement, which is the aggregate of this pavement material, has a significant effect in suppressing "frost heave" when used alone. Furthermore, in freeze-thaw tests conducted at the Central Testing Laboratory of the Building Materials Testing Center, no cracking or destruction occurred even after completing 200 cycles. 【Excellent Features of the Aggregate (High Furnace Slag)】 ■ Porous Structure - Numerous fine voids relieve pressure caused by volume expansion during freezing. ■ Potential Hydraulicity - The main components of water-quenched slag (silica, alumina, lime, magnesia) solidify over time due to repeated water infiltration. ◎ Sufficiently resistant to the repeated effects of freeze-thaw cycles. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.

The technical basis of "permeable blast furnace slag pavement" that achieves both permeability and water retention.

Introducing technical information about permeable and water-retaining blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

We will explain the technical basis of "Permeable and Water-retaining Blast Furnace Slag Pavement (Color Sand)" that achieves both permeability and water retention. All of our paving materials use "granulated blast furnace slag" as the main aggregate. The aggregate itself has a fine porous structure, allowing it to provide both permeability and water retention. While typical permeable paving materials achieve permeability at a "point," our paving materials achieve permeability over a "surface" due to the nature of the aggregate itself, resulting in less clogging and maintaining permeability performance over a long period. Additionally, by cleaning with high-pressure washers, the permeability can be restored to about 80%. Further explanations regarding "permeability performance" and "water retention performance" can be found through external links. [Technical Information Introduction] ■ Reasons for achieving both permeability and water retention ■ Permeability performance ■ Water retention performance ■ Our product lineup *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.

About the characteristics and benefits of blast furnace crushed slag used in colored sand.

Introducing technical information about permeable blast furnace slag pavement "Color Sand"!

This explains the characteristics and benefits of the blast furnace crushed slag used in "permeable blast furnace slag pavement (colored sand)." The "blast furnace crushed slag" used as aggregate in our paving materials is a byproduct generated simultaneously when producing pig iron from a blast furnace at major steel manufacturers. It can be easily separated as it floats on top of the molten pig iron. In addition to contributing to the reduction of environmental impact, it has characteristics such as excellent gradation balance due to its uniform particle size. Further explanations on topics such as "What is steel slag?" and "Characteristics and general applications of blast furnace slag" can be found through external links. 【Introduction of Technical Information】 ■ What is "steel slag"? ■ Characteristics and general applications of "blast furnace slag" ■ Reasons for adopting "blast furnace crushed slag" - Reduction of environmental impact, porous shape, latent hydraulicity, high internal friction angle, uniform particle size, safety *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or external link pages, or feel free to contact us.
